The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commenced early preparations for the 2026 Hajj following the successful completion of the 2025 pilgrimage exercise.

Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Abdullahi Mukhtar Pakistan, disclosed this to journalists on Thursday in Kano shortly after returning from Saudi Arabia. He revealed that the Saudi authorities have issued a directive requiring all countries to finalise Hajj arrangements much earlier than in previous years.

“We have received clear instructions from the Saudi authorities that they will not wait for any country to finalise their arrangements late. They want all logistics concluded early,” Pakistan stated.

He added that NAHCON is currently seeking approval to announce the Hajj fare for 2026 and appealed to Nigerians intending to perform the pilgrimage to begin registration promptly.

Reflecting on the just-concluded exercise, the NAHCON Chairman expressed deep gratitude to Almighty Allah for the safe and smooth completion of the 2025 Hajj, praising the unwavering support of the Federal Government, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

“In the name of Allah, we thank the Almighty who made it easy for us and our pilgrims. We thank President Tinubu for his full backing and Vice President Shettima for his step-by-step support,” he said.

He also acknowledged the critical role played by members of the National Assembly’s Committees on Foreign Affairs and Hajj Affairs, as well as the Nigerian media for their role in disseminating timely information to the public.

“What I would say, you’ve already heard from the pilgrims, from our senators and members of the House of Representatives. They’ve said it all,” Pakistan noted.

While attributing the success of the 2025 Hajj to divine blessing and collective effort, the NAHCON boss stated that the commission is determined to build on the lessons learned this year to deliver a more efficient and seamless operation in 2026.

“We’ve learned a lot from this year’s Hajj. Insha Allah, we intend to deliver a better and more efficient operation in 2026,” he assured.

He further urged all prospective pilgrims to begin early registration, as Saudi Arabian authorities plan to conclude all arrangements for the 2026 Hajj within the next two to three months.
