NED NWOKO DENIES HIDING CHILDREN FROM REGINA DANIELS, CITES COURT ORDER ON REHABILITATION

Senator Ned Nwoko has dismissed claims circulating on social media by his estranged wife and Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, suggesting that she has been denied access to their children, insisting that her separation from them is a consequence of court directives and personal choices, not deliberate restriction.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his communications team and shared on his official X account, the lawmaker described Daniels’ recent social media posts as “misleading” and inconsistent with established family practices.
Nwoko clarified that the matter had already been addressed by a court, which ruled in his favour and directed Daniels to undergo rehabilitation and be assessed by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before access to the children could be restored.
“The recent posts by Regina present a version of events that is both misleading and inconsistent with long-established family practice. Publicly sharing moments involving the children has never been new, unusual, or controversial within the family,” the statement read.
He added that suggestions that Daniels had been prevented from being part of the children’s lives were inaccurate, stressing that their care has always been centred on maintaining emotional balance, routine and stability.
“The children have always been cared for in an environment that prioritises their routine, emotional balance and stability. Children deserve a parent who is emotionally present, mentally sound and sober most of the time. This is not an unreasonable expectation; it is the minimum standard of care any parent owes their children,” the statement added.
Nwoko’s response followed a post by Daniels on Monday in which she expressed distress over being separated from her children, stating that no mother could find peace under such circumstances. She also reaffirmed her desire to reunite with them soon.
“I may be young, but I am such a mum, I enjoy being a mum and I miss being a mum. I will definitely see my kids soon,” Daniels wrote.
Addressing the legal position, Nwoko disclosed that the court ordered Daniels to undergo drug rehabilitation and be evaluated by the Abuja Social Welfare Department as a condition for restoring access to their children, Munir, aged five, and Khalifa, aged three.
“The ruling was resolved in favour of Senator Ned Nwoko, with clear directions that Regina Daniels must undergo drug rehabilitation and be assessed by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before access can be restored to the children of the marriage,” the statement said.
According to Nwoko, the substantive suit has been adjourned until February 4, 2026.
He urged Daniels to comply fully with the court’s directives, warning that continued public commentary risked drawing the children into unresolved personal disputes.
“Using the children as emotional shields to deflect from unresolved personal issues is not in their best interest. The most responsible and meaningful step remains compliance with the court-directed rehabilitation process and a demonstrated commitment to sustained personal wellness,” he stated.
Nwoko concluded by expressing hope that the period ahead would be used for healing and recovery rather than further public disputes.
“It is our hope that this window of quietude will be used for healing and recovery, rather than generating another cycle of online attention,” he added.
The dispute has continued to attract widespread public attention, particularly on social media, as both parties maintain differing accounts of events surrounding their family and ongoing legal proceedings.
