Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three suspects in separate operations for alleged involvement in cultism and vehicle vandalism.

According to a statement posted on the RRS official Facebook page on Tuesday, one of the suspects was apprehended last Wednesday around 10:00 p.m. at the Toyota Bus Stop in the Oshodi area of Lagos for alleged cult-related activities.

The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly found in possession of a locally made pistol and two live rounds of ammunition while inside a commercial bus. Police said the arrest followed credible intelligence.

“The operatives of Rapid Response Squad have arrested a suspected cultist with a locally made pistol in a commercial bus in Oshodi,” the statement read. “Two live ammunition were also recovered with the gun.”

In a separate operation, two suspected vehicle vandals, identified as Kazeem Oyebola (25) and Olamilekan Babalola (35), were arrested in the early hours of Saturday at Otedola Bridge while allegedly loading stolen vehicle parts into a Suzuki minibus with registration number LSD 736 YK.

The suspects were caught with six Ford Escape tyres, rims, and other car parts, which were reportedly stolen from a mechanic’s workshop nearby.

Upon questioning, the suspects claimed they had been contracted to transport the items to Agege. However, preliminary investigation revealed that the parts were removed from vehicles parked for repairs at the workshop.

The statement added that two other suspects fled the scene and are currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.

Mechanics working at the affected workshop reportedly discovered the theft on Saturday morning and were later informed by RRS officers that the items had been recovered.

RRS Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, assured the victims that the remaining suspects would be brought to justice. All arrested individuals are said to be assisting police with further investigations.
