TIKTOKER PELLER APOLOGISES AFTER RECKLESS LIVE-STREAM CRASH IN LAGOS

Popular TikToker Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has issued a public apology following a viral video that captured him driving recklessly and crashing his vehicle during a live-stream.
In an apology video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, Peller expressed deep remorse over the incident, pleading with Nigerians for forgiveness. “I’m sorry, Nigeria. I will never do that again. I am very sorry. For now, I am on medication. Once I’m done with my medication, I will be online,” he wrote.
Speaking in the video, the influencer admitted that his actions were driven by emotional distress. “I let emotion get to me. That’s why I did that. I’m very sorry. Please forgive me. You can say anything against me, but please don’t bully Jarvis. She is not concerned. It’s me,” he said.
The apology follows a widely shared incident on Sunday, December 14, 2025, when Peller livestreamed himself driving recklessly along the Lekki–Epe Expressway in Lagos. During the broadcast, he made statements interpreted by many viewers as a threat to crash the vehicle, before losing control and ramming his newly purchased Mercedes-Benz into a stone barrier.
Bystanders reportedly rushed to his aid and conveyed him to a hospital, though details of his injuries were not immediately confirmed.
The crash triggered widespread public outrage due to the risk posed to both the influencer and other road users. Police described the act as a “deliberate attempt to commit suicide” and warned against the misuse of social media platforms to promote reckless or unlawful behaviour.
Authorities confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, while Peller is expected to face prosecution by the Federal Road Safety Corps.
The incident has renewed public debate on the growing trend of dangerous stunts by influencers in pursuit of online engagement, with many Nigerians calling for stricter enforcement of road safety laws and increased awareness of mental health challenges among young public figures.
