Tension flared in parts of Taraba State, as students sitting for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams were forced to endure an unexplained delay in the administration of the English Language paper, originally scheduled for 8:00 a.m.

As of the time of the incident, no official reason was provided by WAEC for the delay, leaving candidates, parents, and school officials frustrated and confused.

Several concerned parents who had visited examination centres in search of their children expressed anger upon learning that the delayed English paper was still being conducted much later than scheduled. They condemned the incident as “uncalled for” and demanded a formal apology from the examination body.

“This is unacceptable. WAEC should have rescheduled the paper instead of keeping the students waiting under stress. They have another paper to write tomorrow, and this could affect their performance,” one parent told reporters.

They further appealed to the Federal Government to investigate the matter and sanction those responsible to prevent a recurrence.

“This has never happened before in the state. Our children deserve better treatment,” another parent added.

WAEC has yet to issue an official statement regarding the delay as of the time this report was filed.
