BAUCHI SEEKS INCREASED HAJJ SLOTS FOR 2026 PILGRIMAGE

The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has appealed to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to review and increase the number of Hajj slots allocated to the state for the 2026 pilgrimage.
The Director of Educational Enlightenment of the board, Malam Hashimu Sadiq, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Bauchi.
Sadiq explained that the 2,600 slots currently allocated to the state may not be sufficient to meet rising demand, noting that Bauchi successfully utilised all 2,516 slots granted for the 2025 Hajj. He said the full utilisation reflects strong participation and commitment among intending pilgrims in the state.
According to him, interest in the 2026 pilgrimage has increased significantly, prompting the request for additional allocation from Saudi authorities.
He disclosed that the board has concluded major welfare and logistical arrangements, including medical support and accommodation for pilgrims. “Five houses have been secured close to the Holy Mosque to ensure easier access and comfort for pilgrims from the state,” he said.
Visa processing is ongoing, with immunisation remaining the final requirement before departure procedures are completed.
The board urged intending pilgrims to remain calm and cooperative, assuring them of adequate safety, welfare support, and a spiritually fulfilling experience.
The Hajj is expected to take place between May and June 2026, while Saudi authorities have fixed March 20, 2026, as the deadline for visa processing.
