ANAMBRA SECURITY OUTFIT ARRESTS NNEWI NATIVE DOCTOR OVER ALLEGED VIOLATION OF HOMELAND SECURITY LAW

Operatives of Agunechemba Security Outfit in Anambra State have arrested a Nnewi-based native doctor, John Ezenagu, popularly known as “Mmou Mmili Afulu Anya,” for allegedly violating the state’s Homeland Security Law.
Ezenagu was apprehended and paraded by the security outfit before being taken to his residence in Nnewi on Friday, where officials conducted a thorough search and questioned him about his activities.
Speaking during the parade, the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, said the suspect allegedly lured young men and women with promises of quick wealth if they bathed in a stream located behind his house.
Emeakayi stated that the practice contravenes the provisions of the state’s Homeland Security Law, noting that the native doctor had previously been cautioned over his activities but allegedly continued with them.
“After investigations, he would be handed over to the police for further investigation, after which he would face prosecution if found culpable,” Emeakayi said.
However, speaking with journalists, Ezenagu apologised for his actions, claiming ignorance of the law. He appealed to Governor Soludo, the state government and residents of Anambra for forgiveness, promising to desist from such activities.
“I have sinned. I appeal to Governor Soludo for forgiveness and promise to turn a new leaf. I vow never to deceive young people in the state again,” he said, adding that he dredged the river and believed he had rights over it.
The Anambra State Government had in January 2025 enacted the Agunechemba Homeland Security Law 2025, signed by Governor Soludo after it was passed by the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The law provides a framework for community participation and citizen involvement in strengthening security and promoting social re-engineering across the state.
