The Conference of United Political Parties (CUPP) has thrown its weight behind the House of Representatives Minority Caucus’ call on President Bola Tinubu to either demonstrate decisive leadership or resign from office.

In a statement issued on Thursday by its Acting National Chairman, Chief Peter Ameh, the opposition coalition said it fully shares the position of the Minority Caucus, stressing that the current administration must effectively tackle the numerous challenges confronting Nigerians or step aside for leaders capable of delivering results.

According to CUPP, public office is a responsibility that demands accountability and measurable outcomes.

“In any functional democracy, elected officials who fail to provide effective governance and improve the welfare of the people should consider the honourable option of resignation,” the statement read.

The coalition urged President Tinubu and his administration to take urgent and concrete measures to address worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and the declining standard of living across the country.

“Leadership is not an entitlement but a duty. Where that duty is not being effectively discharged, resignation becomes the honourable course of action,” CUPP stated.

The group further called on the President to respond to the concerns of Nigerians by implementing visible policies and actions aimed at easing the suffering of citizens.

CUPP added that it would continue to closely monitor developments and remain vocal on issues affecting the welfare and interests of the Nigerian people.
