The Lagos State Government is launching the Lagos Greenhouse Gas Registry (LGHGR) at NECA House, Alausa, Ikeja, as part of efforts to strengthen climate accountability and promote transparent emissions management through digital technology.

The event, organised by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), is bringing together government officials, environmental experts, development partners and stakeholders to witness the unveiling of the online Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) platform.

The registry is expected to enable the state to systematically measure, monitor, track and manage greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants within its geographical boundaries.

With the theme, “Driving Transparent Emissions Management and Climate Action through Digital MRV Systems,” the launch underscores Lagos State’s commitment to leveraging digital innovation in addressing climate change and improving environmental governance.

According to LASEPA, the registry is designed to support Nigeria’s obligations under the Paris Agreement, advance Lagos State’s climate targets, unlock opportunities in carbon markets and position the state as a leader in sustainable urban development across Nigeria and Africa.
