Security operatives have provided a detailed breakdown of the roles played by members of a kidnapping syndicate responsible for the abduction of a woman and her twin sons in Oyo State, following a successful rescue operation that led to the neutralisation and arrest of several suspects.
The gang, identified as comprising Kelechi, Wale Abolalewa (also known as “Oloro”), Dare Oyedele (also known as “Solution”), Semiu Ishola, Adeyemi Ayobami, and other accomplices, operated as a coordinated criminal network with clearly defined responsibilities.
Investigations revealed that Kelechi functioned as a lookout at the gang’s hideout. He reportedly engaged police operatives in a gun duel during a raid on the location but was neutralised alongside another unidentified gang member who was actively involved in holding the victims captive.
Another suspect, Wale Abolalewa, popularly known as “Oloro,” was described as a key figure within the syndicate and had already been on the police watchlist prior to his arrest. His detention reportedly provided critical intelligence that helped unravel the wider network. He was actively involved in both the planning and execution of the abduction.
Similarly, Dare Oyedele, also known as “Solution,” was identified as a principal operational link in the gang, playing a central role in surveillance, planning, and execution of the kidnapping. Both he and “Oloro” are currently in custody and assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries.
Further findings showed that Semiu Ishola, aged 39, acted as an intermediary who facilitated and secured the criminal hideout located in Lado community, Ayegun, Ibadan, while 35-year-old Adeyemi Ayobami also served in a similar capacity by arranging and managing the hideout where the victims were held.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the syndicate carried out extensive surveillance on the victims’ family prior to the attack. This included monitoring daily movements, photographing vehicles and school environments, and attempting to recruit an insider, identified as Segun, a domestic staff member, in May 2026. The gang reportedly executed the abduction using an unregistered Toyota Camry after weeks of monitoring.
The rescue operation was launched following a distress report received on 3 June 2026, prompting the Oyo State Commissioner of Police to order an intelligence-led manhunt involving the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), the state command, and other tactical units.
Through coordinated intelligence gathering, including crime scene analysis, surveillance, and digital tracking, operatives were able to trace the gang. A major breakthrough came with the arrest of Wale Abolalewa (“Oloro”), which led to further arrests and the discovery of the hideout in Ibadan.
On 6 June 2026 at about 7:30 p.m., operatives stormed the location in a tactical raid. During the operation, Kelechi opened fire, prompting a swift response from security forces, resulting in the neutralisation of two suspects while ensuring the safe rescue of the victims.
The victims were later found unharmed, taken into protective custody, and reunited with their families. Items recovered from the scene included three pump-action rifles, 14 live cartridges, an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla used in the operation, charms, a battle axe, a hammer, suspected hard drugs, and face masks.

Investigations are ongoing to apprehend fleeing members of the syndicate, some of whom are believed to have sustained gunshot injuries. The Oyo State Police Command has also urged members of the public, particularly healthcare providers, to report any individuals presenting with suspicious gunshot wounds.
