
JUST IN: VICTIM OF LAGOS CCTV SHOP EXPLOSION PASSES AWAY
One of the five individuals injured in Friday’s explosion at a CCTV store on Kodesho Street, near Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos, has died from injuries sustained during the blast.
A source familiar with the situation confirmed to us on Sunday that the victim passed away on Saturday.
“We lost one of them on Saturday evening,” the source, who requested anonymity due to the delicate nature of the matter, revealed.
“The doctors did their best, but unfortunately, he didn’t survive.”
“They are currently battling to save the lives of others.”
The Lagos State Police Command previously confirmed that five individuals sustained injuries in the explosion, which occurred around 6:35 p.m. on Friday.
According to a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the scene was promptly secured by personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, the Mobile Police Detachment, and other police teams to safeguard public safety.
“The scene was swept by the EOD experts of the command to ensure the safety of residents and facilitate a comprehensive investigation to determine the actual cause of the explosion,” Hundeyin said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, was also said to have visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment shortly after the incident.
Hundeyin added that the five individuals injured during the explosion were taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for treatment.
When contacted to confirm the death of the victim, Hundeyin said, “Yes, we have been informed that one of them died on Saturday.”
When asked about the state of the investigation, the police image maker said, “The investigation is still on. We will make it public as soon as it is concluded.”
