NSCDC THWARTS CATTLE RUSTLING, KIDNAPPING ATTEMPT IN KIRU LGA

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, have foiled an attempted kidnapping and cattle rustling operation in Bakin Komau, Dangora area of Kiru Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday.

According to the statement, the attack occurred on Thursday when armed men assaulted a herder, inflicted serious injuries on him, and abducted his two children while attempting to rustle livestock.

Upon receipt of a distress call, NSCDC operatives deployed around the nearby Dansoshiya Forest quickly mobilised to the scene and engaged the attackers in a gun battle.

The statement noted that the operatives overpowered the suspects, forcing them to abandon the kidnapped children and flee into the forest with gunshot wounds, thereby disrupting their criminal mission.

The two rescued victims, identified as Abubakar Saleh, 36, and Muhammad Inuwa Dille, 30, were subsequently reunited with their families.

The injured herder, a 70-year-old man identified as Alhaji Saleh, also received prompt medical attention.

The NSCDC personnel were said to have been stationed in the area as part of security coverage for an ongoing dam construction project and to protect grazing reserves and nearby farming communities from criminal attacks.

The Kano State Command, under the leadership of Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and critical national infrastructure.

The command also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support swift responses to security threats.
