OSUN AMOTEKUN OPERATIVE KILLED IN ALLEGED ATTACK BY SOLDIER IN IJEDA-IJESA

The Osun State Command of the Amotekun Corps has accused a military personnel of fatally assaulting one of its operatives, 35-year-old Samuel Tope, during a brutal attack in Ijeda-Ijesa community on Saturday evening.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Corps Commander, Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, the operative was attacked by a man identified as Fiyinfoluwa Opejobi reportedly a soldier land other unidentified accomplices. The assailants allegedly struck Tope on the head with a blunt object, causing him to fall off a motorcycle.

“The assault, which lasted for about 20 minutes, was completely unprovoked and left Officer Tope in a pool of blood. The soldier, dressed in military uniform, fled the scene on a commercial motorcycle,” Omoyele said.

Tope was rushed to Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, by fellow Amotekun officers, where he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Sunday despite efforts to save him.

The Divisional Police Headquarters in Ijebu-Jesa was promptly notified, and a formal complaint was lodged with the commanding officer of the Engineering Cantonment in Ede, Lt. Col. Yunusa Isyaku.

The Corps Commander called for a full-scale investigation into the incident and vowed that the Amotekun Corps would pursue justice for their slain colleague.

“This is a grave matter. We demand accountability and justice. The perpetrators must not go unpunished,” Omoyele said.
