“Acting on the intelligence, OPWS troops launched an intensive search and rescue operation to locate the terrorists and safely recover the victims. Troops combed suspected locations in Gborgbor Village but initially found nothing. Further intelligence confirmed the kidnappers and their captives remained nearby,” the statement said.
Additional troops, led by the Sub-Sector Commander, were deployed to reinforce the operation, extending the search to surrounding settlements, including Tse Anaka, increasing pressure on the criminals.
“The terrorists abandoned their captives and fled. The victims were recovered safely, and a motorcycle suspected to have been used by the kidnappers was seized along the route to Tse Anaka Village,” Zubairu added.
Maj. Gen. Moses Gara, OPWS Force Commander, praised the troops for their professionalism and rapid response, emphasizing that the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of intelligence-driven strategies against kidnapping and terrorism.
Gara reassured residents of Taraba and neighbouring states of the Joint Task Force’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged the public to provide timely and credible information to help dismantle criminal networks in the region.
