AFRICAN PLAYERS IN EUROPE: NDIAYE SCORES ANOTHER HISTORIC GOAL

BY OWOLABI OLUWADARA
Iliman Ndiaye further cemented his legacy at Everton by scoring the inaugural goal at the club’s new 53,000-seat stadium in Liverpool over the weekend during a Premier League triumph against Brighton.
The Senegalese national also registered the last goal at Goodison Park, Everton’s home for 133 years, in a match against Southampton in May.
Born in France, Ndiaye began his professional career at Sheffield United in 2019 and spent one season with Marseille before joining the Toffees last year.

ENGLAND
ILIMAN NDIAYE (Everton)
Ndiaye directed Jack Grealish’s delivery at the far post to open his account for the new season and assist Everton in commemorating the momentous event with a 2-0 triumph over Brighton.
DANGO OUATTARA (Brentford)
Ouattara delivered an instant return for Brentford on the club-record £42 million ($58 million) investment made for the Burkinabe forward. In his debut for the Bees, Ouattara netted the sole goal in a 1-0 victory against Aston Villa, securing Brentford’s inaugural points of the season.
ISMAILA SARR (Crystal Palace)
Sarr has commenced the new season in impressive shape and scored his first league goal of the campaign in Palace’s 1-1 stalemate with Nottingham Forest. The Senegalese forward, who found the net in Palace’s Community Shield success over Liverpool earlier this month, effortlessly converted Daniel Munoz’s delivery to grant the Eagles a first-half advantage.
GERMANY
SERHOU GUIRASSY (Borussia Dortmund)
Guirassy netted the inaugural goal of the contest and subsequently failed to convert a penalty in a 3-3 stalemate at St Pauli. The Guinea international, who recorded 38 goals for Dortmund across all competitions last season, elevated to head a cross after 34 minutes. Shortly thereafter, his penalty was saved. Dortmund was ahead 3-1 with five minutes left, but relinquished their advantage by conceding twice and lost centre-back Filippo Mane to a red card.
ANDREAS HOUNTONDJI (St Pauli)
Hountondji equalized the advantage Guirassy bestowed upon Borussia with his 50th-minute goal. The Benin international headed in his first goal following a offseason loan transfer from Burnley.
FRANCE
PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG (Marseille)
The 36-year-old Gabonese forward, returning to Marseille for a second term after spending the past season in Saudi Arabia, contributed to alleviating the club’s troubling beginning to the Ligue 1 season by scoring twice and earning a penalty in a 5-2 victory against promoted Paris FC. He also struck the post.
FRANK MAGRI (Toulouse)
The Cameroon international forward scored both goals as Toulouse triumphed over Brest 2-0, marking their second consecutive victory this season.
