Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Scotland captain Andy Robertson on a free transfer after the defender’s departure from Liverpool.
According to BBC Sport, the 32-year-old left-back will officially become a Spurs player on July 1 when his Liverpool contract expires, bringing an end to a trophy-laden seven-year spell at Anfield.
Robertson had already announced his intention to leave Liverpool this summer, paving the way for Tottenham to secure his services without paying a transfer fee.
The North London club had previously explored a move for the experienced defender during the January transfer window while Thomas Frank was in charge. Although the two clubs reportedly reached an agreement, Liverpool pulled out of the deal after failing to bring back Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Roma.

Tottenham eventually secured their Premier League status on the final day of the campaign under manager Roberto De Zerbi, who expressed delight at the arrival of the Scottish international.
De Zerbi described Robertson as a player he has long admired, praising his technical ability, experience, leadership qualities and winning mentality.
He added that the veteran defender’s influence would extend beyond the pitch, describing him as someone capable of making a significant impact within the squad.
Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull City in 2017 and went on to make 378 appearances for the Merseyside club. During his time at Anfield, he helped Liverpool win two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, two League Cups and the FA Cup.
The Scotland captain remains a key figure for his national team and is expected to lead the country at this summer’s World Cup, having already earned 92 international caps.
Tottenham sporting director Johan Lange also welcomed the signing, highlighting Robertson’s quality, character and leadership throughout a career marked by success at the highest level.
Lange said the defender’s professionalism and commitment would be valuable to the development of the squad and noted that he shares the club’s ambition to return to winning ways.
Robertson becomes one of Tottenham’s first major acquisitions ahead of the new season as De Zerbi continues efforts to strengthen his squad and improve the club’s standing in the Premier League.
