The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has condemned the abduction of Mrs. Busayo Adelabu John-Paul, younger sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and her twin children by armed men in Ibadan.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC called on Governor Seyi Makinde to work closely with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to address the growing wave of insecurity across the state.

Sadare expressed concern that the latest kidnapping incident occurred amid rising public anxiety over unresolved abduction cases involving schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, as well as two staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) in Idi-Ayunre, Oluyole Local Government Area.

Mrs. John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons were reportedly abducted at Elewura-Challenge in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area. According to reports, the armed assailants trailed the victims’ vehicle from their residence before intercepting and abducting them around 7:30 a.m.

Reacting to the development, the Oyo State Police Command, through its spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that investigations had commenced and appealed to residents to remain calm while efforts continue to secure the victims’ release.

The APC urged authorities at all levels of government to review and strengthen the state’s security framework to ensure better protection of lives and property.

“We demand the immediate rescue of all Oriire school abductees, the two CRIN staff, Mrs. Busayo John-Paul and her children, as well as all other persons currently in captivity,” the statement read.

The party further called for stronger collaboration between the state government and security agencies to halt the rising cases of kidnapping and violent attacks across Oyo State.

According to Sadare, residents should not be subjected to fear and uncertainty, adding that the government must take urgent and practical steps to improve security across the state.

The APC also referenced previous security incidents in the state, including the abduction of over 40 teachers and students during an attack at Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026.

The party equally recalled the December 2025 abduction of APC chieftain Wale Oriade in Ibadan, describing the pattern of attacks as a growing concern requiring decisive intervention.

Eyewitnesses had reported that Oriade was abducted by armed men who arrived in a blue Micra vehicle and forcefully took him away from his office at PJ Square Shopping Complex along Akala Expressway.

The APC maintained that restoring public confidence in security must remain a top priority for the government and security agencies.
