Suspected bandits have abducted a nine-year-old boy and damaged two residential buildings during an attack on the Igbosi area of Idogun in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident reportedly happened in the early hours of Friday when armed men invaded the community, firing sporadic gunshots to create panic before launching the attack.
The abducted child, identified as Oluwatobi, is the son of a local cleric, Isaac Olaosebikan.

Residents further disclosed that the assailants vandalised two houses during the operation before abducting the boy and taking him to an unknown destination.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said a manhunt had been launched for the kidnappers, with efforts intensified to secure the release of the victim.
He noted that the command received reports of the attack at about 2:30 a.m. from Isaac Olaosebikan and another resident, Joel Owalekan.
According to him, preliminary findings showed that the gunmen invaded the community around 1:30 a.m., shooting sporadically and causing widespread panic.
Ayanlade said the attackers forced their way into Olaosebikan’s residence, prompting him to flee into a nearby bush in an attempt to save his life, leaving behind his nine-year-old son, who was subsequently abducted.
He added that Owalekan also reported that the attackers attempted to break into his home and damaged parts of the building, but he managed to escape unharmed.
The police spokesperson said operatives of the command, in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps, have been deployed to the area and have begun coordinated search-and-rescue operations.
He said security teams are combing surrounding forests and possible escape routes in a bid to rescue the child and apprehend the perpetrators.
He further stated that investigations have commenced, with recovered exhibits from the scene being analysed to support tracking efforts.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has directed tactical and intelligence units, alongside other security agencies, to intensify efforts toward rescuing the victim unhurt and bringing the attackers to justice.
The police command also said it is working closely with local vigilante groups to ensure the safe return of the abducted boy and the arrest of those responsible.
