The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the suspension of the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members posted to Niger State.

In a statement shared on its official X handle on Sunday, the scheme said the decision was necessitated by ongoing renovation works at the state orientation camp.

The statement explained that the exercise has been put on hold until further notice.

It read: “This is to notify the general public and prospective corps members (PCMs) deployed to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course that the exercise has been suspended for now due to ongoing renovation work at the orientation camp.

“Affected PCMs will be contacted on short notice regarding when and where to report for their orientation course.

“The management regrets any inconvenience caused to the affected PCMs and their parents.”

The NYSC added that new arrangements would be communicated in due course.

The development comes amid recurring disruptions linked to infrastructure challenges in some orientation camps across the country.

Earlier in the year, a severe windstorm damaged parts of the Niger State camp in Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area, including male hostels, the multipurpose hall, kitchen, and staff quarters. Governor Mohammed Bago subsequently ordered immediate repairs to the facility.

Similar postponements due to renovation work have also been recorded in states such as Enugu and Osun.

The 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise had officially begun on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and was originally scheduled to run until Tuesday, June 30, 2026, nationwide.
