The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has once more articulated his aspiration regarding his eventual transition—tranquilly, on a Sunday, following his church service and relishing his preferred dish, pounded yam.

Addressing attendees on the fourth day of the church’s continuing International Convention entitled “The Overcomers,” Pastor Adeboye emphasized that demise does not necessarily manifest through extended sickness. He had conveyed this identical insight two years prior.

“I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness,” Pastor Adeboye declared, affirming that his departure would be sudden and painless.

In a sermon entitled “Claim Your Inheritances,” the esteemed clergyman encouraged followers to actively seize what rightfully belongs to them through Christ.

Referencing the biblical narrative of the Israelites, who had to battle to obtain the Promised Land, he remarked: “In numerous instances, you may need to contend for what is already yours. ”

He emphasized significant domains where believers must confront spiritual resistance—healing, affluence, productivity, and longevity:

“Your closest ally, Jesus Christ, incurred a substantial cost to secure your healing,” he stressed. “However, there exists a thief who aims to steal, kill, and annihilate” (John 10:10), he cautioned, urging Christians to resist illness through unwavering faith.

Concerning prosperity, Pastor Adeboye proclaimed: “The One who possesses the earth and its entirety, and who possesses all the silver and gold, paid a significant price so that you would not be impoverished. As long as you choose to remain destitute, you will continue to be destitute. ”

He also addressed criticism directed at successful Christians: “If you make it as a Christian, they criticise you. If you die poor, they say, ‘Where’s your God?’”

Concerning the topic of longevity, he remarked: “A long life is yours. However, the adversary seeks to destroy you with all his might. You must strive to survive. ”

He also underscored the divine mandate for productivity, citing biblical figures such as Rachel and Hannah, who triumphed over infertility through unwavering prayer and resolve.

“We must not remain subjected to the influences of darkness. How can I be a child of God and yet be afflicted? ” he inquired, urging believers to dismiss all manifestations of spiritual bondage.

Utilizing the narrative of Jacob wrestling with an angel (Genesis 32) as an example of spiritual resilience, Pastor Adeboye concluded: “It is what we permit that unsettles us. Cease to tolerate illness, poverty, barrenness, or untimely death. Strive to claim your inheritance—it is your spiritual obligation, facilitated by Christ’s sacrifice. ”
